Detailed Itinerary

DAY 1, Tuesday – Depart for Canada
Depart on your flight to Calgary, Alberta’s major city and gateway to the Canadian Rockies. Arrive and transfer independently to your hotel. Your tour will begin with an orientation meeting with your Tour Manager at approximately 6 PM, followed by a light dinner. We recommend that you select flights which arrive no later than 4 PM

DAY 2, Wednesday – Calgary City Tour, Travel to Banff
This morning, take a city tour of Calgary. Drive past the major sites to see a combination of historical, architectural and vintage landmarks of this diverse city. In the afternoon, continue to Banff. Admire the mountain scenery as you approach Banff National Park, nestled in the heart of the Canadian Rockies

DAY 3, Thursday – Banff National Park, Gondola to Sulphur Mountain
Explore Banff National Park, named a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Here, ascend by gondola to the summit of Sulphur Mountain experiencing panoramic views of six mountain ranges and the village below. Then, at your leisure, walk along the boardwalk of the Observation Deck (weather permitting), or shop for gifts. Afterward, return to Banff for lunch on your own and afternoon at leisure

DAY 4, Friday – Lake Louise, Icefields Parkway, Jasper National Park
Begin the day at Lake Louise, known for its blue waters, and nestled at the base of Victoria Glacier. Listen to the history and geology of this area during the specially designed Ice Explorer tour that takes you to the surface of the massive Athabasca Glacier (weather permitting). On the journey, hear about the formation of glaciers, the interesting geological features of the area and step out onto the surface of the powerful ancient ice. Afterward, journey north along the Icefields Parkway to Jasper. Tonight, after dinner, stroll the main street of Jasper

DAY 5, Saturday – Jasper National Park, Spirit Island
You explore Jasper today, the largest national park in the Canadian Rockies. The beauty of this area will leave you breathless! You begin at a section of the park known for its abundant flora and fauna. Drive up the valley to see Medicine Lake, which exists only during the summer months when melting glaciers bring water into the valley. Take a cruise* to world-famous Spirit Island on Maligne Lake, the heart of Jasper National Park. See the tranquil blue color of this glacier formed and fed lake during this calming wilderness experience. Then, on to majestic Maligne Canyon to learn about the unique features of this underground system. Time to walk along the canyon’s trails with breathtaking views of waterfalls and unusual rock formations. Return to Jasper, the turn-of-the-century railroad town, for the remainder of the day at leisure or, participate in the optional Athabasca River Raft Trip that retraces the route of the early explorers along the Athabasca River

DAY 6, Sunday – Kamloops
Today, depart Jasper for Kamloops. Head west of Jasper towards Mount Robson, then continue on the Yellowhead Highway. Enter the province of British Columbia by following the Fraser river then, the North Thompson river towards Kamloops. Pass through the communities of Clearwater and Blue River, home to heli-logging in the summer and heli-skiing in the winter, before arriving in Kamloops, the only major city in central British Columbia

DAY 7, Monday – Coquihalla Highway to Victoria
Travel this morning on the Coquihalla Highway, heading south through spectacular coastal landscapes. Hop aboard a ferry that takes you across the Strait of Georgia to Vancouver Island and onwards by coach to Victoria, capital city of British Columbia. Upon arrival, a brief orientation tour introduces you to this charming city, apparent in the horse-drawn carriages, formal gardens and tearooms. Spend the evening independently and enjoy the Victorian charm of the city’s center

DAY 8, Tuesday – Butchart Gardens, City Tour of Victoria
This morning, visit Butchart Gardens with its 55 acres of flowers and show gardens, including the Japanese, Italian, and Rose gardens. In the afternoon return to Victoria. On the way back, drive on the Trans Canada Highway to see “mile zero”. Upon arrival, embark on a city tour of Victoria, starting at Beacon Hill Park. Proceed to the Royal BC Museum, adjacent to Thunderbird Park with its carved totem poles, and Chinatown. Spend the remainder of the afternoon at leisure, or join the optional seaplane sightseeing tour where you can take in the views of the downtown buildings and the islands that dot the Strait of Juan de Fuca

DAY 9, Wednesday – Depart Victoria for Vancouver
The last stop on the Western Canada adventure is the coastal seaport city of Vancouver with its spectacular vistas. Travel by ferry to Vancouver, known for its temperate climate, it is one of the few places in the world where you can ski in the morning and sail in the afternoon. The city tour is highlighted by English Bay, a favorite recreational area, and Gastown, the city’s oldest neighborhood, designated a National Historical Site in 2009. Later, on to Stanley Park, via the Lions Gate Bridge and Prospect Point, offering stunning views of the mountains, Lion Gate Bridge and the city’s inner harbor. Time to relax before tonight’s dinner.
